This is not a blog post telling you that the only way to success is for you to step out of your comfort zone.
This is for my creatives, coaches and singers to help you learn how to play with your edge a little bit in a way that feels aligned and expansive, without the stress of feeling that you always have to step out of your comfort zone to be successful.
Speaking as a formerly shy child, (and I mean like painfully shy child) I know a thing or two about staying in my comfort zone.
In fact, it wasn’t until I tasted my first little bit of freedom on stage in grade school that I started to discover the delicious companion to comfort zone ”expansion”.
Healthy ambition requires us not to push ourselves too hard but also, not too stay too comfy ~ and sometimes this can feel like a razor thin line ~ especially when it comes to unleashing our voices and creative endeavors into the world.
For those of you struggling to find ambition in your life, I want to share a little tip with you that might help you expand into your possibility a little bit.
You don’t need to jump into discomfort in order to be successful.
Try this instead:Play with your edge.
Give yourself permission to start small.
Take baby steps and then you can start expanding into what feels most right and most aligned for you.
If you’re already a super ambitious person already you may start to play with softening the edges a little bit to create a little bit more balance.
If you need a little more CHUTZPAH! (as my Jewish Baba used to say), you might play with a little bit more oomph! to create a harder edge!
The beauty of it all is that this can be fun. It doesn’t have to be black or white. There can be some fuzzy grey stuff in the middle.
Yes, magic does happen when we step out of our comfort zones AND also:
I also want to invite you to explore the possibility of that not being the only way that you can succeed in your art, in your creative endeavours, in your singing.
You can bring what you learn from playing with your edge to any practice for the rest of your life.
Remember there isn’t anything that you CAN’T do, so really question those limiting beliefs that show up and hold you back.
Stay in the present moment, and allow the idea of possibility to guide your choices.
